One of my dear friends told me a few years ago that I needed a space in my home that was all mine.
A space that I could make as pretty as I wanted, complete with flowers, frills, and more pink than I can handle.
While pink isn't a color I want more than I can handle, I am very thankful to have a space like that.
Currently it is my porch, which I fondly call my "SHE-porch."
It has a blessings tree that my son drew and my daughter and I painted. I found post-its that look like tree leaves. I write blessings that I want to remember on them, laminate them with clear contact paper, and hot glue them onto the tree.
I have encouraging bible verses written on the walls.
I have pictures of my loved ones also on the walls so I will remember to pray for them.
I also take communion.
I have an oil diffuser that can bluetooth my phone to listen to music.
Not only is it a wonderful space for me, but the rest of my family goes out there to enjoy it every now and then, too!
02 Friends
I watched a documentary where they interviewed people around the world that were 100 years old.
They all said they believe that socializing is one of the ways to live as long as they have.
Aside from long life, socializing with other women can be invigorating, healing, comforting, and just plain old fun.
Sometimes, my friends and I will watch a chic flick. Other times, we can spend many hours just talking.
And sometimes, it's a phone call.
03 Alone Time
Spending time with just you is just as important as spending time with others. How else are you supposed to know more about yourself?
Learning more about you as a person can help other areas of your life.
I find that the more I learn about myself, the more I can understand my children (they did come from my DNA after all).
This is a great time to do something that you love, like a hobby, or spend time with Jesus. Sometimes, my alone time looks like being on my SHE-porch. Sometimes it is playing my piano, going for a walk around the lake at the park, or being in my garden.
